DNV, an Oslo based assurance and risk management provider, today announced it’s acquisition of CyberOwl, a Phaze Ventures portfolio company and leading maritime cyber risk monitoring and threat management technology provider.
Phaze Ventures invested in CyberOwl‘s $5.1mil Series-A financing alongside investment firms 24Haymarket, Techstars and Brookstreet Equity in 2022. In the wake of high profile cyber attacks in the maritime sector, CyberOwl has experienced a significant uptick in customer growth, and subsequently agreed to join forces with DNV to strengthen the cyber defences of the shipping industry by forming one of the world’s largest specialists in maritime systems cyber security.
The investment into CyberOwl marked Phaze Ventures 2nd investment into maritime software vertical after its investment into US based Voyager, and the subsequent acquisition marks Phaze Ventures Fund I 2nd exit in less than 3 years since launch.
Speaking on the occasion Abdullah Al-Shaksy, Co-Founder & CEO at Phaze Ventures, said “We are very proud of what the team have accomplished, and we look forward to watching their continued success under new ownership.”
